Fiona bought Hero in 2015. He gained some good results but it really came together when he won the CCI** at Ballindenisk in the autumn of 2017 finishing the season on a real high. In 2018 Hero went from strength to strength. He produced some great results being places 6th at the CIC*** at Barbury and 4th in the Advanced at Aston le Walls. He was then selected to represent Great Britain in the Nations Cup at Haras Du Pin in France in August, where he produced a solid dressage test, followed by a good clear cross country and just rolled an unlucky pole on the last day. The team unfortunately were unable to complete as two of the horses sustained injuries during the cross country, which was gutting as we were in the gold medal position going into the showjumping on the final day. He then went to Millstreet CIC*** where he again he was phenomenal, but unfortunately he picked up an injury on the cross country. He has been back in full force in 2021 picking up some great results. Being placed in the top 10 at Barbury 4* and 4th at Wellington advanced which set him up for his 4*Long debut at Blenhiem, where he exceeded all expectations and jumped an immaculate double clear within the time to finish 14th and get his Badminton qualification.
In 2022 Hero did a brilliant job completing Badminton at his and Fiona's first 5*, then going on to finish 3rd at Barbury 4* and completing Pau 5*. 2023 saw him achieve his best 5* finish, coming 12th at Luhmuhlen, along with placing in every BE he did and being selected for the Nations Cup at Arville, where he had a good dressage and clear cross country with some unfortunate poles keeping him out of the placings.
With the 2024 season underway we are very pleased with how Hero is going, having been double clear and placed at every event so far. We look forwards to the rest of the season with him.
